Three anime films to compete in Anima 2008's feature film competition

The Anima 2008 international animation film festival will screen Kenji Kamiyama's Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society, Mamoru Hosoda's The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, and Michael Arias's Tekkonkinkreet in Belgium in February of 2008. All three anime works are competing in the feature film category. Koji Yamamura's acclaimed "Franz Kafka's A Country Doctor" and Furi Furi Company's "Shinobi Black & White" will compete in the short animation category. Vegetable Fairies N.Y. Salad's 18th episide, "Happanosori," was nominated in the children's works category.

Satoshi Kon's Tokyo Godfathers won an award at the same festival in 2005. Three (Seiji Mizushima'ss Fullmetal Alchemist: The Movie - Conqueror of Shamballa, Satoshi Kon's Paprika, Tsutomu Mizushima's xxxHOLiC the Movie: A Midsummer Night's Dream) of the 11 films in last year's festival were from Japan, but no Japanese feature has won an award in the festival in two years.
