Almost all-female remake of Chinese Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel

BaseSon's Koihime†Musō: Doki—Otome Darake no Sangokushi Engi adult adventure game for personal computers will be adapted as a television anime series and a manga. Koihime†Musō re-imagines the classic Chinese historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms (Sangokushi) as a "moe (fiery), moe (preciously cute) action love comedy" with an almost all-female cast. The same Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel also inspired KOEI's game franchise of the same name and KOEI's Dynasty Warriors (Shin Sangoku Musō) spinoffs. The anime and manga announcements were made in conjunction with the release of more details about an upcoming Sony PlayStation 2 version of the game (pictured at right).

Nobuaki Nakanishi (Bomberman Bidaman Bakugaiden, Mahoujin Guru Guru) will direct the animators at DOGA Productions or Dogakobo (Myself; Yourself, Akakichi no Eleven) on the television project. The manga version will start in this year's volume 2 of Dengeki G's Festival! Comic magazine.
