The Ice Wanderer, Icaro creator pens story about mountain recluse's search

The international publisher Fanfare / Ponent Mon announced before New York Comic Con last week that it will publish an English-language edition of Quest for the Missing Girl by award-winning manga creator Jiro Taniguchi (The Times of Botchan, Hotel Harbour View, Benkei in New York, Icaro). The story centers on Shiga, a recluse who returns to civilization from his mountain retreat to find a missing girl and honor a promise to her father. FanFare's edition will ship in November of 2008.

The publisher also revealed the new release dates for its previously announced titles, including Taniguchi's The Ice Wanderer and Other Stories (October), Hideo Azuma's Disappearance Diary (November), the Korea as Viewed by 12 Creators sequel to Japan: As Viewed by 17 Creators (December), Baku Yumemakura and Taniguchi's The Summit of the Gods (Spring 2009), and Kan Takahama's Awabi (Spring 2009).

Update: Quest for the Missing Girl was announced last April. Thanks, dormcat.
