Haruhi Suzumiya: Over One Million CDs Served

As of Wednesday, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya anime has shipped over 1 million tie-in CDs. From Aya Hirano's 2006 opening theme CD single "Bouken de-show de-show? " to the newest opening theme CD single "Super Driver" which shipped on Wednesday, the franchise has sold 25 different CD releases. The first ending theme single "Hare Hare Yukai" debuted at #5 on Oricon's weekly singles chart. Out of the 25 different Haruhi CDs, the first series' Suzumiya Haruhi no Tsumeawase CD single has sold the most copies at about 200,000. It also has appeared on the weekly singles chart over 100 times. Even the character song CDs have sold 100,000 copies.
Bandai Entertainment released the first series in North America, while Kyoto Animation is producing a "renewed" television run which includes both the original anime episodes and some new ones in Japan.
