Spice & Wolf, Cossette's Creators Launch New Manga

Billionaire Girl follows tutor of successful female daytrading prodigy

Spice and Wolf author Isuna Hasekura and manga artist Asuka Katsura (Blood+, Le Portrait de Petit Cossette) have launched a new manga called Billionaire Girl in the sixth issue of Kodansha's Good! Afternoon magazine on Monday. Unlike Spice and Wolf, the new manga is set in modern Japan. The title character is Fujioka, a girl who earned 17 billion yen (about US$180 million) as a daytrader. The story follows Takatō, an ordinary college student who has been hired as Fujioka's tutor. According to Katsura's website, the series will run on an irregular schedule in the magazine.

Yen Press is publishing Keito Koume's manga adaptation of Hasekura's Spice and Wolf light novels in North America, while Funimation will ship the first season of the Spice and Wolf television series in November. Dark Horse Comics publishes Katsura's Blood+ manga in North America, and Tokyopop publishes her Le Portrait de Petit Cossette manga.

As pictured to the right, the Junketsu no Maria - Sorcière de gré, pucelle de force manga by Moyashimon's Masayuki Ishikawa adorns the current cover of Good! Afternoon.
