Bee Train to animate with Murder Princess director, Silent Möbius head writer

The January issue of Kadokawa Shoten's Newtype magazine is revealing on Thursday that a television anime adaptation of Manabu Kaminaga's Psychic Detective Yakumo (Shinrei Tantei Yakumo) novels has been green-lit for Fall of 2010. Tomoyuki Kurokawa (Murder Princess) will direct the overall series, while Hiroyuki Kawasaki (Blade of the Immortal, Ryoko's Case File, Silent Möbius) will supervise the series' scripts. Bee Train is producing the anime.

The story follow Yakumo, a young man who can see the spirits of dead people with his red eyes. He uses this ability as a gift to solve murder cases.

Since 2004, Kaminaga has written eight main volumes and one side story volume in this series. The story has already been adapted into a 2006 live-action television drama series and two manga series. Ritsu Miyako drew one manga series in Hakusensha's Bessatsu Hana to Yume magazine from 2007 to 2008, and two book volumes have since been compiled. Suzuka Oda has since started drawing her version this past summer in Kadokawa Shoten's Monthly Asuka magazine.
