Yoshitoshi ABe, the Japanese illustrator most famous for designing the Serial Experiments Lain anime and creating Haibane Renmei, has self-published his own dōjinshi manga titled I am an Alien, I have a Question on Amazon's Kindle e-book store. The 41-page work is available for US$1.00 and comes in both English and Japanese. According to Amazon, the story is about a "strange alien girl" who comes in contact with Earthlings.
ABe had previously self-published his 53-page dōjinshi Pochiyama at the Pharmacy in 2008 for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch in 20 countries, including the United States and Canada. Pochiyama at the Pharmacy also included both Japanese and English dialogue in one edition.
Kindle Books can be read on Amazon's own Kindle devices (in three different versions), a free App for Apple's iPhone and iPod touch mobile devices, and the free Kindle for PC software. Other North American manga publishers with titles currently on the Kindle include Digital Manga Publishing and Seven Seas Entertainment.
