K-On! Manga's Last Installment Listed for September (Updated)

Footnote lists kakifly's next installment in Manga Time Kirara mag as final one

A footnote on the bottom of kakifly's K-ON! manga in the September issue of Houbunsha's Manga Time Kirara magazine lists the next installment as the final one. The September issue officially ships on Monday, and the next issue, cover-dated for October, will ship on September 9. The four-panel comedy manga follows a group of high school girls who form an afterschool rock band.

The ending of the current K-ON! manga series is not necessarily the ending of the K-ON! story as a whole. Tsukasa Hōjō ended his Angel Heart manga series in the current (and final issue) of Coamix's Weekly Comic Bunch magazine, but he already announced that the story will continue.

K-ON!!, the second television anime series based on kakifly's manga, premiered on April 6, and the anime studio Kyoto Animation is scheduled to finish the television series on September 28. Yen Press licensed the original manga, and Bandai Entertainment announced at Anime Expo in July that it licensed the first K-On! television series. The parent company of the Japanese television station TBS revealed in its financial results for the first quarter of the 2011 fiscal year that it earned 1.8 billion yen (about US$20 million) in sales of K-ON!! anime t-shirts and other tie-in characters goods.

Update 2: The next-issue preview in the magazine's September issue also lists the final installment of K-ON! The fourth compiled book volume will ship on September 27. [Via Kyō mo Yarareyaku]
