2nd TV season of school fantasy battle comedy already slated for next year

The October issue of Kadokawa Shoten's Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine is announcing on Thursday that production on a new original video anime (OVA) project of Baka and Test - Summon the Beasts has been green-lit. The OVA will be released before the second television anime season, which has been slated for next year.

The first Baka and Test — Summon the Beasts anime television season adapted Kenji Inoue's fantasy romantic comedy light novels, and it aired in Japan from January 6 to March 31. The story centers around Akihisa Yoshii, the "baka" of the title. His magical academy rigidly divides up the student body into classes based on the results of tests. The prodigies are in Class A with reclining seats complete with air conditioning, but Akihisa is in Class F, the lowest rung of the school ladder which is furnished only with low, decrepit tables and worn-out straw tatami mats. Akihisa decides to rally Class F to take on the higher-tiered classes and seize their perks. Class F uses its summoning powers in an all-out battle for school supremacy.

Funimation licensed and simulcasted the first television season in North America.
