Episodes 20.5, 21.5 of horror anime to debut next May, June

The official website of the Shiki television anime series confirmed on Saturday that the anime's eighth and ninth Blu-ray Disc/DVD volumes will each include an unaired episode. The eighth volume will ship with Episode 21 and the unaired episode "Dai Futatō to Han wa" (a wordplay for "Episode 20.5") on May 25, 2011, while the ninth volume will ship with Episode 22 and the unaired episode "Dai Futatō-ichi to Han wa" ("Episode 21.5") on June 22.

Like several of the previous volumes, the limited editions of these final volumes will each have a CD, package illustrations by original manga artist Ryu Fujisaki and character designer Shinji Ochi, a character message card, and a illustrated pinup card.

The 22nd and final television episode is scheduled to air on December 30, and Funimation is streaming the anime in North America. The anime adapts Fuyumi Ono and Fujisaki's Shiki horror mystery manga, which is set in an isolated mountain village steeped in ancient traditions. The village's population of 1,300 starts dying in droves due to mysterious causes, and it eventually becomes clear that an ancient threat is attacking the village.
