Japanese Box Office, January 22-23

Goseiger vs. Shinkenger opens; Yamato, Inazuma 11, Kamen Rider slip

Tensō Sentai Goseiger vs. Shinkenger Epic on Ginmaku, the live-action special-effects film with heroes from Toei's 33rd and 34th Super Sentai series, opened at #3 on on Kogyo Tsushinsha's box office chart. On Box Office Mojo's chart, it opened at #4 with the equivalent of US$1,394,684 on 255 screens.

The live-action adaptation of the science-fiction anime franchise Space Battleship Yamato dropped from #6 to #8 on Kogyo Tsushinsha's chart, but stayed at #8 on Box Office Mojo's chart. In its eighth weekend in theaters, the film made the equivalent of US$535,367 on 340 screens, bringing its total gross to US$47,806,725.

The soccer videogame-based anime film Inazuma Eleven: Saikyō Gundan Ogre Shūrai also dropped from #7 to #10 in its fifth weekend on Kogyo Tsushinsha's chart. According to Box Office Mojo, it earned US$531,885 on 229 screens at #9 for a gross-to-date of US$20,286,744.

Ryuta Tasaki's Kamen Rider x Kamen Rider: OOO & W feat. Skull: Movie Taisen Core fell from #9 to #12 in its sixth weekend on Kogyo Tsushinsha's chart. According to Box Office Mojo, it earned US$269,761 on 218 screens to add to its total of US$16,458,957.

The Ultraman Zero the Movie Chō Kessen! Belial Ginga Teikoku film is no longer listed on either chart.
