"Circumstances during production" lead to cancellation of singles 1 month before release

The official website of the togainu no chi television anime series announced on Friday that all the single DVD volumes for the anime have been cancelled due to "circumstances during production." Instead, a "remastered" DVD box is slated for release by the end of the year. Had it not been cancelled, the first single DVD volume (pictured at right) would have shipped on March 23. The website added that more details about the revised release format will be announced as soon as they are confirmed.

The last six of the 12 single DVD volumes of Gonzo's Shangri-La television anime series were similarly replaced with a Shangri-La DVD Collector's Edition set in Japan in 2009.
