News Funimation Confirms Shiki on DVD, Blu-ray in Spring 2012 (Updated)

North American anime distributor Funimation has confirmed with ANN that it plans to release the TV anime Shiki on both DVD and Blu-ray in spring of 2012. This information was revealed by an official Shiki website built on Funimation's domain, although the website is not currently active. The site does not list a specific release date or suggested retail price for either format.
Shiki originated as a series of horror novels written by Fuyumi Ono (Twelve Kingdoms, Ghost Hunt). In 2007, artist Ryu Fujisaki (Hoshin Engi, Soul Hunter) announced that he would adapt the novels into a manga, which would then be adapted into a TV anime for Fuji TV's prominent Noitamina late-night content block. Funimation announced at Anime Expo 2010 that it had acquired the streaming rights to the series and would simulcast the 22-episode series on its video site as part of its agreement to simulcast Noitamina shows.
This is the first instance of Funimation announcing a physical release for one of its Noitamina simulcasts.
