Naoko-san, Minori Scramble!, Gyo Anime Releases Slated

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

The production company Aniplex is releasing three previously announced anime later this year under the new label "Anime Bunko." The studio ufotable animated all three projects, which are based on manga.

The anime based on kashmir's Yuri Seijin Naoko-san manga will be available on DVD and Blu-ray Disc on November 30. MOSAIC.WAV already created theme songs for the anime version of this comedy manga. Tetsuya Takeuchi is directing, designing, and storyboarding the project. The manga series premiered in Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh in 2005.

Minori Scramble! anime DVDs and Blu-ray will ship in Japan on December 7. This video based on Mikage Chihaya's manga will be the first anime adaptation for the series. Takuya Nonaka (Armitage: Dual-Matrix, Coyote Ragtime Show, Dokkoida?!, The Garden of Sinners' second film) is directing. Houbunsha began publishing the manga in Manga Time Kirara Forward magazine in 2008.

An anime based based on Junji Ito's Gyo manga will be available in Japan on DVD and Blu-ray format on December 14. Takayuki Hirao (Futakoi Alternative, The Garden of Sinners' fifth film), director of the upcoming anime adaptation, has stated the project was planned to be 30 minutes long but it has since grown to over 60. Big Comics published two compiled volumes of the manga series in 2002, and Viz Media released them in North America.

The retail price for each of the three anime will be the same at 6,090 yen (about US$80) for the Blu-ray version and 5,040 yen (US$66) for the DVD version.
