Sentai Filmworks Licenses Rozen Maiden Anime, Sequel, OVA

Series to stream on "multiple digital outlets," complete DVD set slated by Christmas

Sentai Filmworks announced on Friday that it licensed the 12-episode Rozen Maiden anime series, the 12-episode sequel series Rozen Maiden - Träumend, and the two-episode OVA Rozen Maiden: Ouvertüre.

Rozen Maiden originally aired in Japan in 2004, and a sequel ran in 2005. The Rozen Maiden: Ouvertüre prequel special was released in 2006.

Geneon Entertainment licensed the original series and Rozen Maiden - Träumend for release in North America in 2007.

FUNimation Entertainment then signed a deal with Geneon Entertainment in 2008 to distribute both Rozen Maiden and Rozen Maiden - Träumend in 2008. Rozen Maiden: Ouvertüre has not been released in North America before.

Sentai Filmworks will stream the series on "multiple digital outlets," and will release all three shows in a complete collection on DVD by Christmas. Sentai Filmworks will release Rozen Maiden: Ouvertüre OVA as a stand-alone DVD as well, featuring an English dub by BangZoom! Entertainment.

Peach-Pit's original Rozen Maiden manga, which has been running since 2003, ended its run in Monthly Comic Birz in 2007, then restarted in Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump magazine in 2008. Tokyopop released the manga in North America until it closed its North American division earlier this year.
