posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Seinen manga mag on hiatus since August 2011 issue

Tokuma Shoten's Monthly Comic Ryū revealed on its Twitter page that the seinen manga magazine will restart publication on March 19 of next year. In June, the magazine's official website announced that the magazine would go on hiatus after the August issue with a planned relaunch this December. Tokuma Shoten has continued publishing compiled book volumes (tankōbon) of manga featured in the magazine since the announcement.

After Monthly Comic Ryū renews publication next March, it will continue to serialize some of its previous works in addition to printing new titles. While details of the magazine's return are still in development, the company also has other manga publication projects under consideration.

Series published in Monthly Comic Ryū before it went on hiatus include: Shinpei Ito's Taishō Yakyū Musume. (Taishō Baseball Girls.), Yoshiki Tanaka and Katsumi Michihara's Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Natsuhiko Kyōgoku and Akihiko Higuchi's Loups-Garous and Masaomi Kanzaki's Xenon.

The magazine was first published from the late 1970s to the mid 1980s, but was revived as a monthly publication in 2006. Updates and further details about the magazine's relaunch will come soon on its official website and Twitter account.
