News Laputa Film's 13th Airing in Japan Earns 15.9% Rating

Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli's 1986 anime film Laputa - Castle in the Sky re-aired on Friday, December 9, and it earned an average rating of 15.9% in Tokyo's Kanto region. This was the 13th airing of the film since 1988, but the film has continued to be heavily watched each time. On Friday, it garnered a peak rating of 20.7% from 11:27 to 11:29 p.m.
Saturday's airing featured the first broadcast of Laputa's newly remastered version. The television premiere of Hiromasa Yonebayashi and Ghibli's The Secret World of Arrietty (Karigurashi no Arrietty) film will be this Friday, December 16.

On the whole, The Battle for Doldrey is a mixed bag of strengths and weaknesses. While that may be true of most things, there are few places where those lines are so clearly drawn as in this film.
When the set ends, it's on a note of combined hope and sadness that drives us onto the next volume as surely as the mounting disasters of last volume drove us to this one.
You may not get anything substantial from this brief OVA, but it's a lot of fun to watch regardless.
