Funimation to ship adaptation of fantasy RPG on BD/DVD in June

The North American anime distributor Funimation began streaming two clips from its English dub of Tales of Vesperia ~The First Strike~ on Tuesday. The videos include about 17 minutes of footage from Production I.G's theatrical adaptation of NAMCO's Tales of Vesperia role-playing game.

Funimation will release the film's Blu-ray Disc and DVD combo pack for US$34.98 on June 26. The company announced last April that it acquired the title's North American home entertainment, broadcast, theatrical, digital, and merchandising rights.

Kanta Kamei (Digimon: Diaboromon Strikes Back animation director, Kill Bill Chapter 3: The Origin of O-Ren visual supervisor) directed the film, while Kousuke Toriumi (Basilisk, Naruto) and Mamoru Miyano (Mobile Suit Gundam 00, Death Note) played the heroes Yuri and Flynn, respectively. The original game was released for the Xbox 360 console in Japan and in the United States in 2008, and the film opened in Japan on October 3, 2009.
