Jean Reno Goes to Olympics as Doraemon in New Live-Action Ad

French film star Jean Reno (Léon: The Professional, Mission: Impossible, The Da Vinci Code) returns as the manga cat Doraemon in his seventh live-action commercial for Toyota on Saturday. Like the six previous ads from Toyota Motor Corporation, the seventh ad depicts the characters of the classic children's manga Doraemon, two decades after they grow up. Satoshi Tsumabuki (Dororo, Ikebukuro West Gate Park, Smuggler) plays Doraemon's hapless owner Nobita.
In the new commercial, Nobita, Doraemon and the gang (actress Asami Mizukawa as Shizuka, former NEWS band member Tomohisa Yamashita as Suneo, mixed martial artist Naoya Ogawa as Gian) are watching this year's London Olympics. Nobita observes that Tokyo once hosted the Olympics also, and Doraemon offers the services of his time machine. Olympic gymnast Kōhei Uchimura makes a cameo as Nobita's former classmate Dekisugi.
