Sentai Filmworks Licenses K-ON! Film

2010 film to get bilingual BD/DVD release featuring dub from Bang Zoom! Entertainment

North American anime licensing company Sentai Filmworks announced on Wednesday that it has licensed the K-ON! film. The company plans to release the film digitally and then on bilingual DVD and Blu-ray Disc. The release will feature an English dub from Bang Zoom! Entertainment as well as "extensive extras."

The movie depicts a story not told in the television series, and follows the five female members of Sakuragaoka High School's light music club on their graduation trip to England. The original Japanese voice cast reprised their respective roles in the movie, as did most of the main staff. The film opened in theaters in Japan in December 2010.

The North American anime distributor Bandai Entertainment licensed and released the first K-ON! television anime season in 2011 before it stopped releasing new titles last year. Sentai Filmworks released the K-ON!! second season and OVA on DVD and Blu-ray Disc in two sets in June and August last year. That release also featured a Bang Zoom! Entertainment dub.
