Diancie: I bid you adieu.
The film will revolve around a "magnificent battle" between Pokémon XY's new legendary Pokémon Yveltal and Xerneas, and the "Cocoon of Destruction" in the film's title is a reference to Yveltal. The film will include many legendary and mythical Pokémon. It will introduce the new Pokémon, Diancie, who is now listed in the English language Pokédex as a rock and fairy type that is "created when Carbink undergoes a strange mutation."
The first Pokémon XY film will also feature Mega Evolution just like the Pokémon X and Pokémon Y 3DS games. Appearing in the new adventures in the Kalos region are Satoshi (Ash), Citron (Clemont), Eureka (Bonnie), and Serena.
The film will open in Japan on July 19. Fans voted for the present included with advance ticket sales by choosing from one of the four Pokémon that will be featured in the film's accompanying "Pikachu, Kore Nanno Kagi?" (Pikachu, What's This Key For?) anime short: Jirachi, Victini, Manaphy, and Darkrai.
Pokémon X and Pokémon Y shipped for the Nintendo 3DS worldwide on October 12. The Pokémon XY (Pokémon the Series: XY) anime series tie-in premiered on October 17 in Japan. Cartoon Network then showed two episodes from Pokémon the Series: XY in the United States on October 19, right after the American premiere of lasts year's Pokémon film, Pokémon the Movie: Genesect and the Legend Awakened (Gekijōban Pocket Monster Best Wishes! Shinsoku no Genosekuto: Myuutsū Kakusei). Pokémon the Series: XY began airing on Cartoon Network weekly on January 18.
