Saenai Heroine no Sodate-kata ~egoistic-lily~ Manga Ends

posted on by Sarah Nelkin
Manga retelling story of original novels through Eriri's viewpoint began last year

The June issue of Kadokawa's Young Ace magazine is publishing the final chapter of Niito (Mayo Chiki! (manga)'s Saenai Heroine no Sodate-kata ~egoistic-lily~ (How to Raise a Boring Heroine ~egoistic-lily~) manga on Friday.

The manga tells the story of the Saenai Heroine no Sodate-kata light novels from the view-point of the character Eriri Spencer Sawamura. The title of the manga is taken from the name of a dojinshi circle that exists inside of the novels.

Niito began the manga in the magazine last year, and Kadokawa will ship the third compiled volume on June 4.

Fumiaki Maruto (White Album 2) wrote the original light novel series, and Kurehito Misaki provided the illustrations. A TV anime adaptation starring Saori Ōnishi as Eriri and Ai Kayano as Utaha has been green-lit. Maruto himself will write the scripts, and the anime will premiere next January.

The original light novels revolve around Tomoya Aki, an otaku who is working part-time to earn enough money to buy anime on Blu-Ray, who meets a beautiful girl on his way home during spring vacation. He eventually models the heroine of his own dojin game after her. However, he finds out a month later that the girl is in fact his classmate, and he doesn't know her name. He learns that the girl — named Megumi — actually is hardly noticed by others. Tomoya also has no artistic ability or writing skills, so he asks ace of the art club Eriri Spencer Sawamura to provide the art, as well as the honor student Utaha Kasumigaoka to write the scenario. Can they produce a decent game for Comic Market?
