CG Anime gdgd Fairies Gets Film in September

The CG anime gdgd Fairies is returning in a film that will open in Kadokawa Cinema Shinjuku and other theaters on September 27. The film is titled Gekijō-ban gdgd Yōseis tte Iu Eiga wa Dō kana…? (gdgd Fairies the Movie — Wonder What Kind of Movie That'll Be…?) The gdgd Fairies film will run with another film, Konna Watashi-tachi ga Nariyuki de Heroine ni Natta Kekka www 'Narihiro www' (The Result of Us Becoming the Heroines 'Narihiro').

The fully computer-animated project of gdgd Fairies centers around the surreal conversations and lives of three little fairies who live inside the trees in Fairy Forest. Lead voice actresses Suzuko Mimori, Kaoru Mizuhara, and Satomi Akesaka are reprising their roles of the fairies pkpk, shrshr, and krkr with ad-libbing.

Ryōichi Mori (Peeping Life - The Perfect Edition -) is co-writing the screenplay with the second television season's writer Kazuyuki Osabe, and he is also voicing the prince Tomo-kun. The Akiba-kei idol group Denpagumi.inc. (Mirin Furukawa, Risa Aizawa, Eimi Naruse, Moga Mogami, Ayane Fujisaki, Nemu Yumemi) are guest-starring in the film. The cast also includes Natsuki Mori as a witch, Sō Nozawa as the king, and Takahiro Miyamoto as an "armored dog" and a merchant.

Creator Sōta Sugahara will again be handling the character designs and directing duties. Strawberry Meets Pictures and Fan Company are producing the film in collaboration with Rokujigen Animation.

The first gdgd Fairies television anime premiered in the fall 2011, and the second one followed in the winter of 2013. Crunchyroll streamed both seasons outside of Japan.

Sugahara is also creating, directing, and designing the Konna Watashi-tachi ga Nariyuki de Heroine ni Natta Kekka www 'Narhiro www' film at Strawberry Meets Pictures and Fan Company. Takuya Masumoto wrote the script. This film stars Mutsumi Tamura as Sokura Soyogi, Yuiko Tatsumi as Purato Soyogi, and Maaya Uchida as Arisu Soyogi. (All three characters have given names that begin the same way in Japanese as three ancient Greek philosophers: Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle.) Other cast members include Taisuke Nishimura as Kyattso Tōkatsu (Tōkatsu lit. meaning 'generic name'), and Kōji Ochiai as DT.
