Frozen Tops Yamato for Japan's #1 Animated Film Soundtrack

The soundtrack for Walt Disney's animated film Frozen sold about 166,000 copies to rank #1 for the second time on Oricon's album sales ranking chart for the May 5-11 week. With a two-week total of 466,000 copies sold, it has now topped the 1978's Farewell Space Battleship Yamato as the animated movie soundtrack that has sold the most copies ever in Japan. Farewell Space Battleship Yamato's soundtrack sold 386,000 copies.

Frozen has also topped Ponyo and Avatar at the Japanese box office. Frozen won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film over Miyazaki and Ghibli's The Wind Rises this year. Here is Frozen's pivotal (and Oscar-winning) song "Let It Go," as sung by Takako Matsu as Elsa in the Japanese dub:
