Tsukuroi Tatsu Hito Live-Action Film's Trailer Streamed

posted on by Kyle Cardine
Film based on Aoi Ikebe's dressmaking manga to premiere on January 31

A trailer for the upcoming live-action film adaptation of Aoi Ikebe's Tsukuroi Tatsu Hito manga began streaming on Wednesday. The trailer features the film's theme song, "Kitte no Nai Okurimono" (A Present with No Stamp) by Ken Hirai. The website also unveiled the official poster for the movie (seen right).

Comic Natalie streamed a teaser for the film in October:

Kodansha's Kiss Plus magazine announced last year that the manga would receive a live-action adaptation. In March, the Kiss magazine website revealed that Miki Nakatani would lead in the film. The cast will also star Takahiro Miura (Space Battleship Yamato's Furuya), Hairi Katagiri, Haru Kuroki (Wolf Children's Yuki), Hana Sugisaki, Mie Nakao, Masatō Ibu, and Kimiko Yo (Cutie Honey's Golden Claw). In addition, Yukiko Mishima (Shiawase no Pan, Budō no Namida) will direct the film.

The original manga revolves around seamstress Ichie, a young woman who has inherited her grandmother's Western dressmaking shop. In the story's first volume, Ichie is sewing a wedding dress for a close friend. While sewing, Ichie remembers her grandmother Yukino, who first opened the shop in order to make her daughter Hiroe's wedding dress. Now her grandmother's dresses will be on display in a department store and Ichie wonders if wearing these clothes are really a blessing...

Kodansha's Kiss Plus magazine announced in October that the manga will end in its January issue on December 13.

Ikebe launched the series in Kiss Plus in 2010 and the fifth compiled volume shipped in Japan in March. Ikebe is also serializing the Kagome Kagome manga in Akita Shoten's Champion Tap! online magazine.
