Linebarrels of Iron Manga Is 2 Chapters From Ending

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Shimizu Eiichi's science fiction robot manga spawned 2008 TV anime

The April issue of Akita Shoten's Champion RED magazine announcing on Thursday that Shimizu Eiichi and Tomohiru Shimoguchi's Linebarrels of Iron (Kurogane no Linebarrel) manga will run its penultimate chapter in March. If it continues without a break, the manga will end in the June issue on April 18. The magazine teases:

A climactic battle on the moon's surface! Linebarrel backed into a corner! Where is this outcome headed?!

Champion RED previously announced that the manga was entering its final arc last month.

Shimizu Eiichi launched the Linebarrels of Iron manga with art by Tomohiru Shimoguchi in Champion RED in 2005. Akita Shoten published the 24th compiled volume of the manga on October 20 last year. Masamitsu Hidaka (Pokémon, I Dream of Mimi, Qwaser of Stigmata) helmed the television anime of the manga in Gonzo in 2008, which Crunchyroll streamed as it aired. Funimation released the anime on DVD in North America. Funimation describes the story:

Kouichi dreams of being a hero, but in reality, he's a punching bag for every bully on the block. His life flatlines when the mysteriously naked Emi crash lands on his pitiful existence, thrusting Kouichi into the middle of an intergalactic showdown between rival races of self-regenerating Machinas. Through his death-bed partnership with the Linebarrel mecha, Kouichi gains the strength to stand up to his tormentors and crush the alien invasion force that's determined to conquer Earth.
