High School DxD DX.2 Light Novel to Bundle Unaired Anime Episode

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
2nd novel/Blu-ray bundle slated for December 9

The April issue of Fujimi Shobo's Dragon Age magazine announced on Monday that Ichiei Ishibumi's High School DxD DX.2 light novel volume will bundle a Blu-ray Disc with an unaired anime episode, tentatively titled "Yomigaeranai Fushichō" (The Phoenix That Can't Rise). The volume will ship on December 9.

The High School DxD DX.1 volume also bundled a Blu-ray Disc of an unaired anime episode. The volume shipped on Tuesday.

The original light novel series with Miyama-Zero's art centers around Issei Hyōdō, a dim-witted, lecherous second-year high school student who is killed by a girl on his first date ever. Issei (voiced by Yūki Kaji) is reincarnated as a devil, and from that day forward, he serves as an underling of Riasu (Yōko Hikasa), a high-level devil who is also the prettiest girl on Issei's campus.

Tetsuya Yanagisawa directed the first television anime season at the studio TNK with scriptwriter Takao Yoshioka and character designer Junji Gotō. The season premiered in Japan in 2012, and Funimation licensed it for North America for streaming and home video. The second season aired last summer and reunited most of the main staff and cast. Funimation also licensed the second season for streaming and home video. A third season has been green-lit, and will premiere in April.
