New episode will air as part of Alternative Architecture

The official website for the Ghost in the Shell Arise anime announced on Monday that it will release a new episode titles Ghost in the Shell Arise Pyrophoric Cult on Blu-ray and DVD on August 26.

The episode will air as part of the Ghost in the Shell Arise: Alternative Architecture anime broadcast. The story introduces the new character Pyromania and talk of a computer virus called "Fire Starter." This plot will tie into the upcoming film.

The Blu-ray and DVD will retail for 6,800 yen (about US$57) and 5,800 yen (about US$49), respectively. They will include a booklet tentatively titled "Analyzed Fire Starter."

The Ghost in the Shell Arise: Alternative Architecture television anime was announced earlier this month, and premiered on Sunday. The broadcast will recompile the four existing episodes of Ghost in the Shell Arise and include two new episodes.

Ghost in the Shell Arise was originally a four-part anime series, helmed by Kazuchika Kise at Production I.G and written by Tow Ubukata, that premiered in Japanese theaters from July 2013 to September 2014. Masamune Shirow's Ghost in the Shell manga inspired the video anime. Funimation released the series' first two episodes in North America in a Blu-ray Disc/DVD combo last October.

The related film, Ghost in the Shell: New Movie, is slated to premiere in Japan this summer.
