posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Crossover stage play opens in Tokyo in August

Japanese video game publisher CAPCOM announced at Dwango's "Niconico Chō Kaigi 2015" (Niconico Super Conference) event on Saturday in Chiba that it is producing a Sengoku Basara vs. Devil May Cry collaborative stage play. CAPCOM has also opened a website for the play.

In the play, Dante, Lady, Trish, and Vergil come across some mysterious historical ruins while chasing after a devil, and are sent back in time to Japan's Warring States era. There, the group meets Date Masamune, Sanada Yukimura, and other characters from the Sengoku Basara franchise.

This is the first time that the Devil May Cry game franchise is getting a stage adaptation.

The Devil May Cry cast includes:

CAPCOM will reveal the cast for Lady and Trish in the future.

The Sengoku Basara cast inclues:

Daichi Yamaguchi as Date Masamune (pictured top row on the left)
Ryūnosuke Matsumura as Sanada Yukimura (pictured top row on the right)
Tatsuya Isaka as Maeda Toshimatsu (pictured middle row on the left)

The play will open at the AiiA 2.5 Theater Tokyo, and it will run for 18 performances from August 20-30. All tickets will be through advanced sales and will cost 7,500 yen (about US$63). Tickets are on sale now for members of the Basara Club fanclub, but general tickets will go on sale on July 5.

Masanari Ujigawa is directing and composing the stage play. CAPCOM's Hideaki Itsuno and Izaki Matsuno will collaborate on the scenario, and Kazushi Miyakoda and Tetsuya Yamaura will produce the play. CAPCOM's Hiroyuki Kobayashi and Makoto Yamamoto are serving as supervisors.
