Level-5's WonderFlick Smartphone RPG Ends Service

posted on by Karen Ressler
Game was slated to debut on PS3, PS Vita, PS4, Wii U, Xbox One

The staff of Level-5's smartphone RPG WonderFlick R announced on Monday that the game will end service this September 14. Sale of items such as Fairy Coins and Character Remake Tokens will cease on June 15, but they will still be usable until July 13.

The staff apologized to users, but did not cite a reason for the closure.

Level-5 released WonderFlick for iOS devices in November 2013. Shortly after the game's iOS release users complained that the game would crash and use a lot of battery life, so Level-5 ran several updates and patches before releasing the game on Android in January. The second version, WonderFlick R, launched in August 2014.

The game was also slated for PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 4, Wii U, and Xbox One in 2014. Level-5 was planning a new cross-save functionality called "Uniplay."

The basic game is free, but includes extra items that can be purchased.

Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino (Professor Layton series) directed the loot-focused RPG, Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu handled the music, Nao Ikeda (Final Fantasy XII) handled the character designs, and Takuzō Nagano (Professor Layton and Inazuma Eleven series) desgined the boss monsters.
