Voice actress and singer voices Honoka Kōsaka in TV anime and film

On Tuesday, Singaporean anime distribution company Odex posted a video that features voice actress and singer Emi Nitta promoting the international opening of the Love Live! The School Idol Movie film. In both the television anime series and the film, Nitta plays the character Honoka Kōsaka.

The film will premiere in select cities in the United States on September 12. The film will also screen in Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, Brunei, and Indonesia.

The film premiered in Japan on June 13, and earned 400 million yen (about US$3.24 million) on 121 screens in its first two days. The film eventually earned more than 2.4 billion yen (about US$19 million) as of August 16, 65 days after the film opened at the box office, surpassing the 2.08 billion yen (about US$17.7 million) box-office earnings of the Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie Part 3: Rebellion film, and the 2.28 billion (about US$18.2 million) yen gross of the Eiga Crayon Shin-chan: Ora no Hikkoshi Monogatari ~Saboten Daishūgeki film.

In 2010, the anime studio Sunrise, Lantis, and ASCII Media Works' Dengeki G Magazine launched Love Live! as a self-described "ultimate user-participation project" that lets its fans vote on the future of the fictional idols. A series of music CDs and animated music videos then followed. The members of the project announced in 2012 that a full anime series had been green-lit for the following year. The second season of the anime was announced in June 2013, and it debuted in April 2014.
