Yuusuke Murata's manga series adapts ONE's original web manga of the same name. Murata's manga is currently running on Shueisha's free Tonari no Young Jump spinoff website. The series passed the 2.2-million mark in November 2013, the 3.4-million mark in May 2014, and the 4.5-million mark in November. Shueisha published the ninth volume earlier this year, and a special edition of the ninth volume included a drama CD.

One-Punch Man is currently serialized in Viz Media's English-language digital edition of Weekly Shonen Jump. Viz is releasing the first two volumes in print this September, and Viz will also stream the anime on its website and on Daisuki.

Update: Also announced on Sunday, Makoto Miyazaki (Dragon Crisis!, Triage X) is composing the music. Chikashi Kubota (From the New World, Robotics;Notes) is serving as both character designer and chief animation director. Shigemi Ikeda and Yukiko Maruyama are the art directors, and Ken Hashimoto is the color key artist. Akane Fushihara is the director of photography, while Kashiko Kimura is editing. Shoji Hata is directing the sound. As previously announced, Shingo Natsume (Space Dandy, Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos) is directing the anime at Madhouse (Summer Wars, Hunter x Hunter), and Tomohiro Suzuki (Tiger & Bunny scripts, Saint Seiya: Legend of Sanctuary) is in charge of the series scripts.
