SILVER LINK animates Brave Witches about 502nd Joint Fighter Wing

The official website for the Strike Witches anime franchise began streaming the first promotional video for the Brave Witches spinoff anime on Tuesday. The video introduces the franchise's third television anime and its characters from the 502nd Joint Fighter Wing "Brave Witches" (as opposed to the 501st Joint Fighter Wing from the earlier television anime). It also reveals the anime's staff and 2016 broadcast premiere.

Kazuhiro Takamura is returning from Strike Witches to direct the Brave Witches anime. SILVER LINK is also returning from Strike Witches: Operation Victory Arrow to animate the series. Striker Unit is credited with series composition, while Humikane Shimada is credited with the original character designs (which Takamura is adapting for animation). Tsuyoshi Kikuchi and Daijō Kudō are planning the project.

The official website for the anime franchise had revealed in October 2013 that a third television anime series had been green-lit, but writer and setting adviser Takaaki Suzuki clarified that the new television anime series would not be "the third season." The third episode of the Strike Witches: Operation Victory Arrow original video anime revealed last May that the new anime series would center on the 502nd Joint Fighter Wing "Brave Witches."

The new anime's teaser site will open on April 1, and its news page will start providing more information then.

The Strike Witches franchise adapts Humikane Shimada's mecha-girl illustrations. In the series' world, the alien Neuroi are invading Earth, and governments develop "striker units" that allow girls with magical powers to fight the Neuroi.
