Southeast Asian film distributor Odex began streaming an English-subtitled trailer for the Detective Conan: The Darkest Nightmare (Detective Conan: Junkoku no Nightmare) anime film on Saturday. The trailer previews the film's main theme song "Sekai wa Anata no Iro ni Naru" (The World Will Become Your Color) by the Japanese rock band B'z.

The film will open on July 7 in Singapore, July 21 in Malaysia, and July 27 in Indonesia and the Philippines.

The film opened in Japan on April 16, topping the Japanese box office in its opening weekend. The film sold 933,800 tickets on 348 screens, and earned 1.209 billion yen in its opening weekend. The film has set a new record high for the film franchise, with approximately 5.057 billion yen (about US$47 million) in box-office earnings and 3,982,700 tickets sold as of May 8.

The 2015 film Detective Conan: Gōka no Himawari (Detective Conan: Sunflowers of Inferno) held the previous record, with 4.48 billion yen (about US$41.6 million) in box-office earnings.

The anime film franchise now exceeds 60 billion yen (about US$557.6 million) in total box-office earnings.

The film features members of the story's Black Organization who have previously appeared in the series: Gin, Vodka, Vermouth, Chianti, Korn, Kir, and Bourbon. The film's website also hints at the appearance of Rum, who has never been shown in the series.

Yūki Amami guest stars in the film as the "mysterious woman" whose eyes are different colors and who is a member of the Black Organization.
