Sony revealed the Asian region release details for its PlayStation 4 Slim and PlayStation 4 Pro consoles during its press conference on Thursday. The PlayStation 4 Slim, a slimmer version of the PlayStation 4 console, will ship in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and South Korea on Friday, September 9, and in Singapore on September 17. The console will cost 2,380 HKD in Hong Kong; 9,980 NTD in Taiwan; 378,000 KRW in South Korea; 499 SGD in Singapore; 1,349 MYR in Malaysia; 12,990 THB in Thailand; and 17,300 PHP in the Philippines.

The PlayStation 4 Pro will ship in Asia on November 10, and will cost 599 SGD in Singapore; 1,799 MYR in Malaysia; 16,990 THB in Thailand; and 22,900 PHP in the Philippines. The console will feature an upgraded CPU, a boosted clock rate, and a one terabyte hard drive. The system will have ultra-high-definition 4K and HDR support. Several games that have previously been released will get upgrade patches for PS4 Pro. Sony also announced that it will offer HDR support for all other PS4 consoles via a firmware update.

The same discs and downloads will be available on both the standard model and the new PS4 Pro, but some games will play differently on PS4 Pro to support the higher resolution. Sony previously announced that it anticipated "all or a very large majority of games will also support the high-end PS4."

Pre-orders for Sony's PlayStation VR headset will be available in Asia beginning on Friday, September 9. Sony will also begin offering the PlayStation 4's DualShock 4 controllers in Magma Red and Wave Blue colors.

Sony had confirmed in June that it would release a high-end PlayStation 4 model. The system was previously code-named "Neo."

Sony has shipped 40 million PS4 units worldwide.
