posted on by Egan Loo
Film opened in 11 theaters on Saturday

Digimon Adventure tri.- Chapter 3: Confession (Digimon Adventure tri. Kokuhaku), the third movie in the Digimon Adventure tri. anime film series, has sold 33,765 tickets for over 55 million yen (about US$540,000) in the four days since opening in 11 theaters on September 24. The film topped the Mini Theater Ranking chart, just as the first two movies had done as well.

The general release of the film's Blu-ray Disc and DVD are both slated for November 2, although the releases are first being offered at theaters that are screening the film. The releases contain a special 15-page booklet, liner notes, a textless opening and ending sequence, and trailers for the second film.

Crunchyroll began streaming the film on the same day it opened in Japan. The film opened in Japan for three weeks on September 24, and became available for paid streaming in Japan on the same day.

Digimon Adventure tri.- Chapter 1: Reunion earned 230 million yen (US$2.3 million) after opening last November, and Digimon Adventure tri.- Chapter 2: Determination earned 160 million yen (US$1.6 million) after opening on March 12. Crunchyroll began streaming both films on the same day that they premiered in Japan. The fourth film, Digimon Adventure tri. Sōshitsu (Loss), will open on February 25, 2017.

The project, which celebrates the 15th anniversary of Digimon Adventure (the first entry in the series), will have a total of six films. The first film received a theatrical release in the United States on September 15 with an English dub that features new and returning cast members. The film is getting an extended run in the U.S. starting on Friday.
