This year's 45th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine announced new cast members on Saturday for The Disastrous Life of Saiki K., the television anime adaptation of Shūichi Asō's Saiki Kusuo no Psi Nan manga.

Kenji Nojima (One Piece's Pell, Sket Dance's Michiru Shinba, Psycho-Pass' Nobuchika Ginoza) will play Kūsuke Saiki, Kusuo's older brother. Masaya Matsukaze (Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans' Gaelio Bauduin, Hunter × Hunter's Illumi Zoldyck, Danganronpa's Yasuhiro Hagakure) will play Saiko Metori, a rich transfer student.

The anime premiered as a "double broadcast," airing in the mornings Mondays-Fridays within the Oha-Suta ("Good Morning Star") program on TV Tokyo, and at night on TV Tokyo, TV Aichi, and TV Osaka. The morning broadcast airs five episodes each week, and the late-night broadcast collects those five episodes and airs them together. The anime's morning broadcast premiered on July 4, and the late-night broadcast premiered on July 10.

Funimation is streaming the series with English subtitles as it airs in Japan, and is also streaming an English broadcast dub for the series.

The manga centers on a high school boy named Kusuo Saiki. He possesses supernatural powers that cause unfortunate events in his everyday life.

Hiroaki Sakurai (Di Gi Charat, Maid Sama!) is directing the anime at EGG FIRM and J.C. Staff, and Michiko Yokote (Shirobako, Kyōkai no Rinne) is in charge of series composition. Masayuki Onji (Kimi to Boku., Aoi Hana) is in charge of character design. The new special musical unit Saikic Lover is performing background music for the anime. The group consists of vocalist Yoffy, guitarist IMAJO, and arranger Kenichirō Ōishi.

Dempagumi.inc is performing the new opening theme song "Sai Psi Sai Kōchō!." The group previously performed the anime's first ending theme song "Psi desu I LIKE YOU." Natsuki Hanae is performing the new ending theme song titled "Kokoro" (Heart). Hanae also performed the show's first opening theme song "Seishun wa Zankoku janai."
