Degica Games to Localize Castle of Shikigami Game

XS Games previously released PS2 version with Mobile Light Force 2 title

Game publisher Degica Games announced on Monday that it will localize Alfa System's Shikigami no Shiro game and release it with the title Castle of Shikigami. Degica Games did not specify the platform or release date for the game.

The game is a scrolling shoot-em-up game. Players can choose from one of six playable characters with differing projectile patterns and abilities, and use them to clear levels with as high a score as possible.

The game was originally released for arcades in Japan in 2001, and shipped for the PlayStation 2 in 2002. Its 2002 Xbox port was titled Shikigami no Shiro Evolution, and a 2002 PC release was titled Shikigami no Shiro EX. XS Games localized the PlayStation 2 version in 2003, releasing it under the title Mobile Light Force 2. However, that release changed the game's plot and billed the game as a sequel to Mobile Light Force, the localized title of Psikyo's unrelated Gunbird game.

Shikigami no Shiro received two sequels. Shikigami no Shiro 2 debuted in 2003, and also received PS2, Xbox, Gamecube, and PC ports. XS Games localized this game as Castle Shikigami 2. Shikigami no Shiro 3 debuted in 2006, and received Xbox 360, Wii, and PC ports. Aksys Games localized the Wii version in 2008.
