Milky Holmes Voice Actress Unit to Break Up After Concert Next February

"Road to Final" campaign being held in the year before planned Yokohama finale

Suzuko Mimori, Sora Tokui, Mikoi Sasaki, and Izumi Kitta — the main voice actresses and singers in the Project Milky Holmes multimedia franchiseannounced on Saturday that they will hold their last live concert next February. According to the Sports Nippon newspaper and the Music Natalie website, the unit will break up after the final concert. The project will hold a "Milky Holmes Road to Final" campaign between now and then, including an event in June.

Project Milky Holmes began in February 2009, and Mimori, Tokui, and Kitta started a radio show in December 2009. The franchise would then branch into anime, games, manga, and novels in the following year. The four main voice actresses (with the addition of Sasaki after auditions) play young female detectives named after famous characters in mystery literature. The voice actresses formed a unit in February 2010 and made their singing debut in June 2010. They have since performed at the famed Nippon Budōkan venue in December 2012 and appeared in overseas events.

The franchise has inspired four Detective Opera Milky Holmes television anime series and several anime specials. An anime film opened in Japan in February 2016, and the most recent special aired on New Year's Eve.

After the unit's fan club event at Tokyo's Nakano Sun Plaza on Saturday, Mimori thanked the fans on Twitter. She added, "I want to break through the finish line's goal tape with everyone smiling a year from now!" According to the project's website, the staff had vowed from the beginning to last a decade. The unit plans to hold the final concert in Yokohama, the real-life setting of the anime's story.
