Kemono Friends Festival Adventure RPG App to Launch This Spring

posted on by Egan Loo
Free-to-play iOS/Android app with in-game item fees

The countdown on a Kemono Friends teaser page ended on Monday with an announcement of Kemono Friends Festival, an "adventure role-playing game" for iOS and Android devices. The game will be free-to-play when it launches this spring, but there will be fees for some items within the service. The game is now accepting players who wish to pre-register before the game launches.

In the game, the Friends take part in a certain Kemono Festival/Japari Festival revolving around a "legendary treasure" written in tomes.

The game has various rewards once it attains a certain number of registered players, including 300, 900, and 1,800 "kisekiseki" (gold) once the total reaches 10,000, 30,000, and 60,000 players, respectively. Players will receive Shiserval Right if 100,000 players sign up.

Nexon's original Kemono Friends app game launched in March 2015 and ended service in December 2016 — before the Kemono Friends anime even aired. The 12-episode television anime then premiered on TV Tokyo and TV Osaka in January 2017 and ended in March 2017. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired.

A second anime season is planned. However, the first season's director TATSUKI and anime studio Yaoyorozu will not be involved in the project.

The franchise has also inspired other smartphone apps and several stage plays.

Update: Shiserval Right's name corrected. Thanks, Chiakiiis
