World Break: Aria of Curse for a Holy Swordsman Light Novels End in June

posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Fantasy series launched in 2012, inspired manga & TV anime

SB Creative's publishing imprint GA Bunko confirmed on Saturday that Akamitsu Awamura's Seiken Tsukai no World Break light novel series will end in its 22nd volume, which is slated for June 14.

Funimation describes the story:

Akane Academy is just like any other school…except the students just happen to be reincarnated legendary heroes from a distant past who battled for the fate of the world. Now, evil monsters are threatening to wreak havoc, and it's up to the students of Akane Academy to stop them! Follow Moroha, Shizuno, and Satsuki as they navigate love, past lives, and kicking butt in this action fantasy with a dash of fanservice.

Awamura launched the light novel series in 2012 with illustrations by refeia (Koiken! ~ Watashi-tachi Anime ni Natchatta! ~). SB Creative published the novel's 21st volume (seen right) last October. Rio Nanamomo launched a manga adaptation of the novels in Kadokawa's Monthly Comp Ace magazine in April 2014, and ended it in February 2016. Kadokawa published four compiled book volumes for the manga.

The novels inspired a 12-episode television anime in 2015. Crunchyroll and Funimation both streamed the anime as it aired in Japan with the title World Break: Aria of Curse for a Holy Swordsman. Funimation also streamed an English dub for the anime, and it released the series on Blu-ray Disc and DVD in October 2016.
