Crunchyroll Simulcasts Given Boys-Love Anime

posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Series premieres on Thursday

Crunchyroll announced on Wednesday that it will stream the anime adaptation of Natsuki Kizu's Given manga as part of its summer simulcast lineup. The simulcast will debut on Thursday at 3:55 p.m. EDT, and it will be available worldwide outside Asia.

Crunchyroll describes the anime's story:

Somehow, the guitar that he used to love to play and the basketball games that he found so fun just lost their appeal...

That was until Ritsuka Uenoyama randomly met Mafuyu Sato. Ritsuka had started losing his passion for music in his everyday life, but then he hears Mafuyu sing for the first time. The song resonates with his heart and the distance between them starts to change.

The series will premiere on Fuji TV's Noitamina programming block on July 11, and will air on Thursdays at 24:55 (Fridays at 12:55 a.m). The anime will be the "first anime based on a boys-love manga" to air on Noitamina.

Hikaru Yamaguchi (director for Escha Chron, episode director for Mr. Osomatsu, Battle Spirits Double Drive) is directing the anime at studio Lerche. Yuniko Ayana (BanG Dream! both seasons, Girls Beyond the Wasteland) is overseeing the series scripts.

Solo rock project centimillimental is performing the opening theme song "Kizuato." The in-anime group "Given" is performing the ending theme song "Mirutsuke." centimillimental is producing the ending theme song.

The manga runs in Shinshokan's Cheri+ magazine, and Shinshokan published the manga's fifth compiled volume on April 1.
