I thought this horrible company went bankrupt, but it looks like I was wrong. At least they're splitting this up in 2 parts, but it still seems very expensive to me.
Edit: The Retail price is $150.98 actually, according to RightStuf, but they're currently available for $120.98 each. |

The price is about half to what the 4 Japanese volumes cost combined. But you'll miss the drama cds from each of them.
Just, the English release is almost a year later, and I don't remember this being that popular of a title, here or in Japan. Being a half-year delaycast on this side didn't exactly help its case either. |

This is actually in the ballpark price range of collectors edition sets from Sentai and Funi. Good for Pony Canyon. My only gripe is no regular edition without the extra 'premium addons' that in my humble opinion only exist to needlessly inflate the price

Man every time I think about this series I get more depressed. I ended up dropping it after episode 3 (it's not a bad show, it's just okay). I went to the premiere panel for this show at Otakon last year (waiting for another panel). It was one of the saddest panel's ever. They had pulled out all the stops for this premiere: booked one of the largest rooms, had the anime staff apart of the Q&A panel (including the singer of the opening song) and they even commissioned a replica of the hero's sword. Their were like 15 people in the audience and there was no enthusiasm among said audience. So I don't think this show will do well in the west

Exactly how do these highway robbers stay in business? Not many people would buy a 2 volume box set at $120-150 each unless they were importing from Japan.

Maybe if it had been simulcasted along the other anime, it might have been a bit more popular than it was. I really liked this one, even with its abrupt ending. It's in fact one of my first mecha anime! And its Latin Spanish dub was great too, so I really hope it includes the Spanish dub in the release. Not that I'm going to buy it, but the more languages available, the better. |

It was an "okay" show, price point would be fair at ~120 if it meant the complete series but damn ~$240 is simply too steep.

Uh, no it's not. I can get those for $75. https://www.funimation.com/shop/home-video/the-complete-series-bddvd-combo-collectors-edition-bld-00513/ This price is insane and you'd have to be working for them to defend it. Loved the show, but this price is just pure profit mongering. They don't love their fans at all. |

Pretty sure this is PCUSA's first new release since Euphonium S1 last summer, so I can't blame you for thinking maybe they'd gone away. I was starting to wonder about that myself. Of course, when you look at the other unreleased shows on their list of licenses (Lance N Masques, Days, and The Lost Village) I'm not surprised they're not in a hurry to release any of those. Anyway, the pricing is interesting since this is their first two-cour series release. It would be nice if this presages a price drop on their one-cour shows in the future. $120 for a one-cour is still too expensive, but its a lot better than $210. It gives me some small hope that I might actually be able to pick up Yuki Yuna Season 2 in the future without having to take out a second mortgage for it. |

@Spike Terra 's description of the Otakon panel from this as being "the saddest" is instructive. If that is the kind of response that PonyCan US is getting then it certainly has been pushed back up the chain to the Japanese home office.
When success of a release depends on only selling a few hundreds or thousand copies, and you encounter this much criticism in the process every time, you are doing something wrong. Mark Gosdin |

Some of the Sentai 1 cour CE releases are pretty close, actually. Most of Funi's are still a bit cheaper, but they've had a few more extravagant ones as well, like FMA and Escaflowne. Beyond the Boundary is actually more: $135 Chunibyo 2 is close: $112 Monster Musume isn't much cheaper: $98 Chivalry of a Failed Knight is close too: $111 Ultimately this is cheaper than Aniplex of America(although they have experimented with a couple of cheaper re-releases lately too), and a huge move in the right direction. If I was in the financial position to do so, I'd pick it up myself, because I'd like to support them making good decisions after their wreck of a launch(and the release looks really cool too!). I think we should try to support good decisions and not drown them in haterade quite so readily, personally. I don't work for them, by the way. (that being said, if they had kept to their old release strategy, I would have preferred it if they just died and left) |

I'm not sure what would cause you to think that the US subsidiary of one of the largest Japanese multimedia conglomerates would go under so quickly? Like it or not, they're going to be around overpricing US releases for a while. |

At least AoA's prices can be somewhat more decent than this.

I assumed they were dead because they didn't really show any signs of life for a while. And because their release history seems filled with some bad-mediocre shows. If they stay around, it won't really affect me since I don't buy BD's or DVD's. |

I thought they were dead in the water too after they canceled the Rokka blu rays a while ago. Still, those prices are pretty insane
