So ANN is now reporting on years-old illegal streams? Laughing
Nice reporting guys.

The link is totally an illegal stream. If you pay attention, howl's moving castle and spirited away is on there too, lol...

Hmm, sounds like there is room for doubt based on what I'm reading. The presence of other movies is curious, if nothing else. No doubt the truth will be clear soon enough.

If a reporter from ANN can confirm it's legitimate, I'd believe it.

It's probably legit. After all, how long ago did the DVD come out? Anyone who was going to buy the movie just for a copy has done so already, and those who want BluRay aren't going to settle for streaming video. And it's not like we haven't been seeing other anime appearing legitimately on the Internet.

First Bolding: Eh, that's not true. A number of Miyazaki's movies, Nausicaa included, are still selling on sites such as Amazon, remaining in their top 100 sellers of animation week after week. And Nausicaa, along with a few others, actually just got a re-released last year around the time Ponyo hit theatres.

Second Bolding: This is different. This is just a random video on google, as opposed to legitimate sites like the sites for official anime distributors(funimation, viz, etc.) or something like hulu or crunchyroll.

Anyway, I came after the link was taken down, but doesn't make a difference for me. Even if I had the slightest suspicion that it was illegally(and have more than just the slightest suspicion) I wouldn't dare watch it.

I'm gonna get the re-release soon anyway. Surprised

Actually it was Kiki, Totoro, & Castle in the Sky that were re-released, not naussica, but there are indeed people that still buy it. I commend ANN on there quick actions. Hopefully its legit though so more people can see this beautiful film, if not, oh well.

Looking through the twitter link:
http://twitter.com/ebertchicago

ebertchicago Twits ask if I pirated Miyazaki's "Nausicaa?" Short answer: No. If I did, I'd take it down.

I'm not sure why ANN reported this. I mean, why this particular illegitimate stream and not the thousands of other anime movies, OVAs and TV shows that also exist as illegal ripped streams out there? Strange.

It's because Roger Ebert posted about it in his blog, and thus it was assumed to be a legitimate stream. Even though it seems awfully unlikely, it may yet still be a legitimate stream and we could all be wrong. Once Disney responds to ANN this will all be settled.

A 3 year old stream on a site that retained the uploaded videos anonymously without having ads and two other films on the site as well. There is no way this stream is legal. It's understandable that someone not familiar with the google video service and illegal streams around the web would mistakenly think that this is a legal stream. I am surprised that ANN did not investigate it further as they should know better about these sort of things.

You think so? I'm a hella sarcastic dude, but that didn't strike as sarcasm at all. :/

'Cause I don't condone piracy.

Work on that sarcasm, bro. You gotta sound less obvious.
