It's Sakuga Kantoku that always gives me nighmares. I generally use "animation director" as that seems to be the modal translation, but I don't think it is the most accurate in terms of job description.

AnimeLab.com's translator is helpful for this sort of thing.

You guessed wrong, and you should have known better. I simply added everything in the same form in order to make the translation table as complete as possible in as short a time as possible. And I use JWPce to preprocess all Kanji/Kana input before pasting it into the submit form.
Come on, guys, don't call me stupid without any reason, that's not the way of motivating people to add data here.

He's not calling you stupid, he's just an experienced old-timer who's grouchy at the enthusiastic energy of the young ones. You're not allowed to become ANN staff until you're a grouchy old-timer ;-D

Would anyone happen to know the difference between 制作事務 (seisaku jimu) and 製作デスク (seisaku DESK)? And perhaps 設定制作 (settei seisaku) as well, as they all appear to be related. There's an anime here with different persons being credited for these tasks.

Jan Scott-Frazier states that "seisaku desk" means "production controller" (see Animation Runner Kuromi), and that "settei" means "model pack"—either of characters or backgrounds (or presumably other things like mechanicals). ("Jimu" = "office work, office administration".)

We have the following tasks to translate. I'm not that proficient in Japanese so I'd appreciate double-checking of this list. Also we need to establish some official translations for common terms; do we translate kyōryoku as coordination or collaboration? senden as promotion or marketing? tantō as supervisor or manager? etc.

キャスティング協力 -> casting kyōryoku -> casting coordination/collaboration
デジタルペイント -> digital paint
デジタル合成 -> digital gousei -> digital composition
ビデオ編集 -> video henshū -> video editor
内線作画 -> ??? sakuga
出版担当 -> shuppan(?) tantō -> publication(?) supervisor/manager
制作デスク -> seisaku¹ desk -> production¹ desk/controller
制作事務 -> seisaku¹ jimu -> production¹ office work
制作担当 -> seisaku¹ tantō -> production¹ supervisor/manager
制作進行 -> seisaku¹ shinkou -> production¹ advance
動画チェック -> dōga chekku -> in-between animation check
動画仕上進行 -> dōga shiage shinkou -> in-between digital paint advance (?)
協力 -> kyōryoku -> coordination/collaboration
宣伝プロデューサー -> senden producer -> marketing producer
宣伝協力 -> senden kyōryoku -> marketing coordination/collaboration
宣伝担当 -> senden tantō -> marketing supervisor/manager
技術協力 -> gijutsu kyōryoku -> technical cooperation
整音 -> ???
検査 -> kensa -> checking/supervision(?)
海外プロモート担当 -> kaigai promooto tantō -> overseas promotion supervisor/manager
演出 -> enshutsu -> animation director/episode direction/overview/direction/technical director
演出助手 -> enshutsu ???
特効 -> ???
番組宣伝 -> bangumi senden -> program marketing
番組担当 -> bangumi tantō -> program supervisor/manager
编成担当 -> ??? tantō -> ??? supervisor/manager
色指定 -> iro shitei -> Colour coordination
製作委員会 -> seisaku² iinkai -> production² committee
製作担当 -> seisaku² tantō -> production² supervisor/manager
設定制作 -> settei seisaku¹ -> ??? production¹
配給担当 -> haikyū tantō -> distribution supervisor/manager
録音 -> rokuon -> audio recording
音響制作協力 -> onkyō seisaku¹ kyōryoku -> sound production¹ coordination/collaboration
音響効果 -> onkyō kōka -> sound effects

¹ 制作 = seisaku = production
² 製作 = seisaku = production

These and these are settei - I have a pile of them. I do also have them for items and locations (not so much backgrounds as the layout used to create the backgrounds or where things are in a room).

"Sound/recording adjustment" I'd say.

助手 joshu = assistant (n.)
助* = assistant (adj.)

Since プロモート is translated as "promotion", I've decided on translating 宣伝 as "marketing". I'm still undecided about 協力 and 担当. I'd like to pick the best possible translation, as opposed to the most common translation. When licensees translate the credits they don't really have to worry about consistency; whether they translate 担当 as supervisor or manager or something else, people will still understand the general meaning of the credits. But the task that falls on us is of a different nature: not only translation but also standardization. And if we're going to be setting the standard, I'd like to make it a good, consistent one.

Would this mechanism include backwards translation of already existing English task descriptions to Kanji values, in order to let these old data become standardized as well (instead of only new Kanji input benefitting from this, which is supposed to be only a minor part of the contributions)?

Two questions have occurred to me:

If we (the encyclopedia contributors) make a mistake when we create this list (e.g., it turns out that "sound engineer" should instead be "cel paint mixer"), how easy will it be to correct? And how will the standardized list be implemented at the data entry level?
