Yo-kai Watch Franchise Gets 4th Film in Winter 2017

3rd film featuring anime, live-action segments opens in Japan on December 17

The staff of the Eiga Yo-kai Watch: Sora Tobu Kujira to Double no Sekai no Daibōken da Nyan! (Yo-kai Watch The Movie: The Flying Whale and the Grand Adventure of the Double Worlds, Meow!) film announced at a stage greeting event in Tokyo on Sunday that a fourth film in the Yōkai Watch franchise will open in Japan in winter 2017. The staff will reveal the title and other details of the film at a later date.

Eiga Yo-kai Watch: Sora Tobu Kujira to Double no Sekai no Daibōken da Nyan! (pictured at right), the third film in the franchise, will open in Japan on December 17. The film includes both anime and live-action segments. Child actor Ryōka Minamide plays main character Keita Amano in the live-action parts of the film. Level-5 president and CEO Akihiro Hino served as executive producer for the film and also wrote the film's script.

Eiga Yo-kai Watch: Enma Daioh to Itsutsu no Monogatari da Nyan! (Yo-kai Watch The Movie: Great King Enma and the 5 Stories, Meow!), the second film in the franchise, opened in Japan in December 2015. The first film, Eiga Yo-kai Watch: Tanjō no Himitsu da Nyan!, opened in Japan in December 2014.

Eleven Arts screened the first film in U.S. theaters with an English dub under the title Yo-kai Watch: The Movie on October 15.
