Join Anime News Network and Aniplex USA in celebrating the 15th Anniversary of the hit anime series, Rurouni Kenshin. On August 24, Aniplex will be releasing Rurouni Kenshin: Trust & Betrayal in digitally remastered 1080p high-definition on Blu-Ray, followed by Rurouni Kenshin: Reflection (September 21) and Rurouni Kenshin: The Movie (October 26).

To mark the launch of the release, Aniplex will be giving away two (2) copies of Rurouni Kenshin: Trust & Betrayal on Blu-Ray. Since the original release of the OVAs, the title has consistently been one of the Top 10 Best Rated anime, as ranked by ANN readers. Now you can own this time-honored classic by showing us your poetry chops.

We are proud to present the first ever Rurouni Kenshin Haiku Contest!

The haiku can be about anything, as long as it's related to Rurouni Kenshin. It can be about the TV series, the manga, the OVAs, the movie, the characters, the characters' scars and fiery bandages— the creative reins are in your hands! All you need to do is write a simple Kenshin Haiku; five syllables, then seven syllables, then five again. Here's a quick example:

Entries will be posted within a day of submission, where readers will be allowed to rank them. That means the earlier you enter, the more time readers will have to read and rank your haiku. Then at the end of the contest, we'll collect the 25 highest ranked entries and have readers vote on their favorite.

Worried you don't have the creative juices for a stellar 575? That's okay—every entry will be eligible for a random drawing for one of the prizes.

The Details

Haiku Rules

The haiku must be related to Rurouni Kenshin in some manner, shape, or form. Feel free to make them funny, serious, happy, sad, or anything else that strikes your heart. No profanity will be allowed. Anything deemed offensive will be tossed from the contest. The poem should be in the form of a haiku, and submitted in English.
