Hayao Miyazaki Becomes Trending Topic on Twitter

January 5 is the 70th birthday of anime director and Studio Ghibli co-founder Hayao Miyazaki. The birthday has spurred a large number of comments on the Twitter social networking site, resulting in the animator's name becoming a "trending topic."
Twitter offers lists of both "global" trends and trends from the users in specific countries. Miyazaki's name appears on the global list, as well as the lists for Brazil, Italy, Singapore, the United Kingdom, Canada, Indonesia, Mexico, Spain, the United States, Australia, Chile, Germany, and Turkey!.
Miyazaki was born in Tokyo on January 5, 1941. The Toonseum in Pittsburgh is celebrating Miyazaki's birthday by holding screenings and discussions of his films on January 13 (Laputa: Castle in the Sky), January 22 (My Neighbor Totoro), and January 27 (Princess Mononoke).
