Okawara Mecha Battle Tournament Held in Tokyo

Videos of enthusiast-built remote-controlled mecha posted online

As part of an exhibit held in Tokyo's Inagi City of mechanical designer Kunio Okawara's (Mobile Suit Gundam, Armored Trooper Votoms) work, an "Okawara Mecha Battle Tournament" was held on February 18. Okawara was present at the event, acting as a judge in the contest. Over twenty Okawara-designed and enthusiast-built mecha were entered in the loosely-regulated event, including entries from the Gundam series, as well as from Yatterman, Armored Trooper Votoms, and Aoki Ryūsei SPT Layzner. The object of the three-minute battles was to knock the opposing mecha down three times in order to win a match, and the finals were held as a three-mecha battle royale.
