Rondo Robe Streams Three Stop-Motion Shorts Featuring Yotsuba's Danbo
posted on by Ko Ransom
Geneon Entertainment's Rondo Robe label has posted three stop-motion shorts featuring the Yotsuba&! manga's cardboard robot suit Danbo as part of their "20th Anniversary with Danboard" campaign. Each of the three shorts promotes a different Rondo Robe release (Haibane Renmei, Serial Experiments Lain, Fate/stay night), and all three feature music by the Kuricorder Quartet (tsuritama).
Earlier this year, a Thai public TV show began using Danbo as a mascot character. Several life-size replicas of Danbo's Amazon variant also appeared in last year's Pride Parade in Seattle; the online retailer Amazon is headquartered in that city. American teenaged photographer Arielle Nadel photographed Kaiyodo's Revoltech Danbo action figure at various locales every day for an entire year, and ASCII Media Works and Kadokawa Group Publishing released a photo collection book last October. ASCII Media Works is the publisher of Yotsuba&! in Japan, while ADV Manga and later Yen Press published the manga in North America.
